A sharp rise in the load reduction volume.
RTE, Electricity Transmission System, presents the results of the demand response call for tenders 2021.
The volume of demand response bids selected is 1509 MW and has nearly doubled (+96%) in relation to the previous year.
This volume will be adjusted according to the results of the interruptible load call for tenders 2021. Indeed, for the first time, sites that are candidates for this call for tenders may also bid for the demand response call for tenders but will have to withdraw if they are selected for the interruptible load call for tenders. The balancing operation may cover a maximum of 400 MW.
The ten candidates are the successful bidders: AGREGIO, ALPIQ ENERGIE FRANCE, BHC, ENERDIGIT, ENERGY POOL DEVELOPPEMENT, ENGIE, EQINOV, FLEXCITY, SMART GRID ENERGY and VOLTALIS.
Like last year, the demand response bids selected have all been “green,” meaning that they do not require diesels.
This proposed result is the outcome of the new provisions introduced for this call for tenders, in particular those announced by the Minister for the Ecological Transition in June with the raising of the bid price ceiling to 60 k€/MW as a key measure, which has secured almost 750 MW of additional demand response capacity compared to 2020.
In addition, the 8 439 €/MW bonus paid for the available capacities from November helped secure 371 MW of additional demand response over the months of November and December 2020, helping to improve security of supply over the coming winter.
